Not so Tiny Paintings

As part of the PILOT exhibition I co-ran the "Not so Tiny Paintings" workshop with 3 other Up North Arts (UNA) members. The exhibtion was part of the Artist Survival Guide project which emerged from the collaboration of the Lancaster art organisations GRAFT and UNA. The project brought 5 established artist to Lancaster to run a series of workshops with the aim to offer mentoring insights on what it takes to become an artist.

From the workshops, the PILOT was created as a response to the skills learned during the workshops. "Not so Tiny Paintings" is UNA's response of the skills learned during Beth Shaperoo's workshop "Tiny Paintings" which gave great insights on how to do community engaging arts.

The workshop took place at Kanteena, our versatile exhibition venue. Our aim was to get the public to interact with the artworks exhibited in PILOT by using the tools of free drawing and painting as observation. Then, we offered them to curate their own creations by adding them to the exhibition.
